Map and Directions

Lodging

The following hotels are in or near downtown Durham and either operate shuttle service to Duke's campus, or are within a short walk of a bus stop with service to Duke:
Alternatively, the JB Duke Hotel is on the Duke campus, and located about a 5 minute walk from the conference venue.

There are also other hotels, both in downtown Durham (more expensive), and further away (less expensive).

Please note that to keep our financial risk (and thus registration costs) low, we did not contract special rates with the hotels mentioned above. The Duke rate, where offered, is based on room availability and not guaranteed. Durham is a tourist destination and has a thriving cuisine, performing arts, and convention scene. Lodging inventory can at times get tight, depending on other events going on. We therefore recommend to book your hotel early. To request the Duke rate, mention that you are attending a Duke conference.

Durham also has a sizable AirBnB inventory. Depending on season and other events, places to stay can sometimes be found at very competitive rates in great locations. Again, we recommend to book early.

Travel

The nearest airport is Raleigh-Durham International (RDU), which is about 20 minutes by car from Durham downtown and Duke's campus. RDU is served by most US airlines, and is well-connected to most major US airports, including daily non-stop connections to the US west coast and eastern Canada. Many local taxi cab services as well as Uber and Lyft pick up and drop off riders at RDU.

The nearest major airport hub is Charlotte (CLT). There are several connections daily between RDU and CLT. Driving to or from CLT is about 2.5 hours without traffic (this can easily increase by an hour due to traffic in the Charlotte area).

If you plan to drive to Durham, note that parking on Duke campus is perennially tight, and that it is usually easier, faster, and cheaper to come to campus by bus, cab, or ride hailing service.
